What a killer game this is - I found myself playing this mobile game while I was sitting behind my PC!
Xyanide is an action game in which you control a man called Drake and his star fighter. Drake is supposed to be guarding a witch called Aguira on her way to her execution. An asteroid hits the spaceship during the transport and a substance called Xyanide, that can materialise thoughts, comes free. Aguira immediately uses this material to create hostile worlds between Drake and the execution ship. It’s your job to get Drake through this hostile mass of enemy spaceships to capture Aguira again and bring her to justice.
The game has a top-down view, showing your fighter and your enemies from above. In the background you are flying through an amazing 3D landscape which is repeatedly cycled through the game; some of your enemies are (partly) in 3D and the camera angle will move if you make your way around obstacles. Furthermore, the background music and sound effects are almost as amazing as the graphics. Xyanide would have been good in black and white, 2D, and with just beeps, but in this state its absolutely thrilling! Everything just looks superb in this game and even the menu has had a lot attention spent on it.
Also, you can play the game in the arcade mode or start at a level you already reached in the arcade mode. There are 4 levels in the game and 3 difficulty levels. While you are flying you can pick up 3 weapon-bonuses that improve your weapon. A pity that they only improve your range and the rate that you are shooting bullets with. Your fighter also has missiles that you can aim at a target, but I do not find these very useful. Overall the negative points are massively outweighed by all the positive things this game has to offer.
This is one of the best games for mobile phones so far. The graphics are superb, the sounds astonishing and the gameplay just rocks! Get it, play it, and let Xyanide materialise your dreams!
