Boulder Dash®-M.E.?
Boulder Dash®-M.E.?

Theres so much detail in this game that youll be spoiled for choice.

Ive actually never really played Boulder Dash®-M.E.™ in my younger days ... never got the chance. But after playing it on my 7210, I know that its a definite keeper!

The menu is pretty daunting in this game. There are so many options and you could do so many things that youll find it amazing that other developers havent done some of the stuff you find in this game. Theres a high score menu, an instructions menu and a settings

menu. What I was really impressed with was the instructions menu.

Not only does the game explain the controls and how to play the

game, but it also has built in tutorials where it teaches you

the significant parts of the game like how to collect diamonds

or blow up walls. This is the type of detail that every game should

strive to have. Theres also a save game option where you can

save your position anywhere during the game. I generally play

mobile games while Im bored or travelling on a bus and this enables

me to continue exactly where I left off! I am thoroughly impressed

with this game. There are just so many features that youll have

to try the game to see them all.

For example Boulder Dash®-M.E.™ offers the following

items:

The Hammer allows you to crush boulders.

The Bomb allows you to blow up boulders, enemies, yourself, walls

or whatever comes across. So be carefully!

The Rotation Item enables you to rotate the whole level in 90°.

This causes that you can reach several places, which has been

blocked before. Boulders and Diamonds fit to the gravity and fall

down.

The Kick allows you to kick boulders several fields far. You can

use the kick whenever you want.

Something which is new as well is the so called Magic Wall:

Boulders falling on it become diamonds and the other way round.

The wall is only enabled for a certain time and only then, when

a diamond or boulder hits it. Important is that there has to be

space below the wall for diamonds or boulders - if this is not

the case you will never see again things falling at the wall.

Of course Boulder Dash®-M.E.™ features enemies:

- A Firefly, and a Butterfly are the standard enemies and can

be found in nearly every level ; both explode if you contact them.

To kill them you can use the bomb, a diamond or a boulder which

has to crush them. If a Butterfly explodes 9 diamonds appear.

A feature which is needed to solve some levels.

- The Amoeba grows and grows until all of it becomes boulders.

If you get along to surround the Amoeba with boulders or diamonds

it will stop growing - all fields of the Amoeba become precious

diamonds.

- The Growing Wall grows constantly in one direction: left, right,

up and down. It only grows after you have uncovered fields next

to it.

However, with every great game, there comes some drawbacks. In

this one, the lag was present at times. I would press a button

to move right and my character would either take a second or two

to move, or the game wouldnt even recognise my key press at times.

This was the only drawback that I could find in an otherwise near

perfect game.

Take my advice on this: this game has everything a game should

and would have to be great. If you dont mind a bit of lag every

now and then, and if you feel youve been out of touch with games,

the in built tutorials will ensure you remember the good old arcade

days ... minus the stacks of coins!
