Glu’s Epic Strategy Game wins First Ever Mobile Accolade at 9th Annual
Interactive Achievement Awards
SAN MATEO, Calif.
Glu Mobile, a leading creator and
global publisher of mobile entertainment, announced that The Academy
of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) has awarded Glu’s acclaimed mobile
strategy game ‘Ancient Empires II’ Best Cellular Game of the Year at the 9th
Annual Interactive Achievement Awards.
The Interactive Achievement Awards, which were held at "The Joint" in the
Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, are peer-based awards that
recognize outstanding products, talented individuals and development teams
that have contributed to the advancement of the multi-billion dollar
worldwide entertainment software industry.
“It's a great honour that our ongoing dedication and effort to create a
uniquely mobile gaming experience has been recognized by the Academy of
Interactive Arts & Sciences through this prestigious award,” said Kristian
Segerstråle, managing director of Glu, EMEA. “It is recognition of the hard
work and dedication from everyone at Glu, and a vote of confidence in our
continued commitment to creating original and innovative mobile
entertainment.”
The AIAS award comes on the heels of a number of accolades for Ancient
Empires II and several other Glu titles. Marc Ecko’s Getting Up, the mobile
game based on the console and PC game born from a collaboration with Atari
Inc. and fashion pioneer Marc Ecko, recently won Spike TV’s award for Best
Wireless Game of 2005. Last month, Ancient Empires II was crowned Game of
the Year by UK website Mobile Game FAQs. In addition, Glu earned seven
honours from IGN.com’s Best of 2005 Awards including Best Wireless Strategy
Game for Ancient Empires II and Best Wireless Puzzle Game for Zuma®, an
action puzzler based on the award-winning Web and PC title from PopCap
Games™.
Ancient Empires II is the epic sequel to the award-winning Ancient Empires.
The game challenges players to battle alongside King Galamar and control
fire-breathing dragons, lethal archers and fearsome wolves as they fight to
defend their kingdom. Players can choose different kinds of troops as they
decide on their own battle strategies, and can even challenge up to four
friends with the pass-and-play skirmish mode. For more information and to
